The first National Conference of the UK’s Disabled Workforce – Manchester University

The University of Manchester’s Disabled Staff Network proudly presents “What are we hiding?” – The first National Conference of the UK’s Disabled Workforce – Friday 7th and Saturday 8th June 2013

The aims of this Conference will be to:

  • Combat the prejudices faced by all disabled people in the world of work
  • Recognise the particular difficulties faced by people with non-visible disabilities or health conditions, such as mental health and autoimmune conditions
  • Counteract the overwhelmingly negative image of disabled people in the media by highlighting and celebrating the lives of disabled people in employment – people who are succeeding against the odds, often without any real support
  • Model a positive structure for solidarity and support, with a possibility of developing the “Disabled Staff Network” model throughout the public, private, voluntary and social sectors

The Conference is intended to be open to absolutely anyone: groups and/or individuals from other institutions, students, employers’ organisations, in fact any member of the general public who either has a disability themselves, lives or works with someone who has or is just interested to find out more about people living and working with a whole range of differing disabilities.

You can leave your contact details  on the above link and you will be added to the conference  confidential email distribution list and be kept informed of progress on the Conference.
